BI 151 – Biblical Introduction

Why is general revelation associated with God as Creator and special revelation with God as Redeemer?

General revelation association with God is as Creator because God is the initiator of universal. We can say the trinity God the Father, God the Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. They are three persons in one. But their characteristics are not the same. According to the book refers to what can be acknowledged regarding God through nature, God’s creative work. German theologian Karl Barth said God comes through general revelation. God created heavens and earth mean to God only. It is more definite. In Paul’s inspection the man who has no familiarity of God through the special revelation. Through general revelation man knows sufficient about his accountability to worship God to become in the wrong when he knowingly disobeys him and refuses to worship Him. Human’s conscience gives facts that man has some knowledge of his responsibility to God. The gentiles, who had not been given the special revelation of the Old Testament law, revealed that they knew something of God’s moral requirements because they established a law for themselves.

Special revelation with God is as Redeemer. Redeemer refers to the Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ. Because he is the only one savior for the sinners in the world. Special revelation related to the redemptive work of God in the life of His elected nation. All human kind need the special revelation lies sinful man is fulfilled to keep on in his sin. God’s special revelation in Christ gives a higher understanding of the love and justice of God to that which could perhaps be indirect from the natural world. Special revelation brings to man the good news of God’s redemptive in and through Jesus Christ. God’s special revelation, beginning in the Old Testament, reached its final and concluding goal in Jesus Christ. The special revelation is biblical revelation.
