My Philosophy of Church Music

There is no higher honor on earth than to make music in the house of the Lord. Often the rigors of the daily grind and the stress and strain of personalities rob us of the perspective to hear the beauty of God's people as they sing their praises. If you walked outside of church as a hymn was being sung, it would be as if the very walls of the church building are singing directly to God. And as an organist, we sit in a seat of honor as we attempt to set the tone and lead God's people in song. A high calling indeed.
Martin Luther recognized the power of music saying... "Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with the gift of song was given to man that he should proclaim the Word of God through Music."
We need to cherish this precious gift of music and use it to praise and glorify our God: Creator, Savior, and Sanctifier! To God be the glory![1]
